Mark R. Obert

Rincon – Mark R. Obert, 69, passed away June 27, 2026 at Effingham Hospital.

Born in Saitama Ken, Japan while his parents were stationed in the service, he later served in the U.S. Army. He worked security for many years at Colonial Oil. He loved fishing, was an avid collector, including watches, patches, military memorabilia, foreign money, and beer steins. He loved watching the Atlanta Braves and GA Tech Yellow Jackets. He loved animals, especially dogs, and loved spoiling his “Bonnie”.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Betty Obert; sisters, Ingrid and Jan.

Survivors include his wife, Jutta Obert; sons, Jeffery Obert (Michelle), Timothy David Obert (April Reilly), and Anthony Michael Obert (Lynsie); grandchildren, Trent Michael Obert, Salome Stark Reilly-Obert, and Finn Armin Obert; siblings, Karen Leffler, Eric Obert, and Heidi Zapal; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at Strickland Funeral Home, 2460 Hwy. 21 S., Rincon, GA 31326. 912-754-6421.
