Obituary

Martha Susan (Sue) Brantley Anderson, [86], died on the 9th day of August 2024.  She was born in Savannah, Ga.  To all her family members and friends, Sue was known for her sharp wit, energy and no-nonsense outlook on life. She was a gracious hostess who welcomed everyone into her tastefully decorated home with warm hospitality and delicious home-cooked food. She loved shopping, traveling, gardening, reading and solving crossword puzzles. But, most of all, she will be remembered for her deep love of her family.  Sue attended Toombs County High School in Lyons, Ga., and later earned her GED. She moved to Garden City, Ga., in 1959, and lived there until moving to Pooler in 2019. She worked at Bloomingdale Elementary School in Bloomingdale, Ga., as a paraprofessional and data clerk from 1976 to 1999, providing support to countless students during her 23-year tenure. She was a member of Garden City United Methodist Church.  Survivors include her son, William Stan Anderson, his wife, Frances Davis Anderson, and their children, Amber Louise Anderson and William Luther Anderson, all of Pooler, Ga.; her son, Christopher Eric Anderson and his wife, Deborah Eason Anderson, of Jacksonville, Fla.; her son, John Mitchum Anderson, his wife, Dawn Holder Anderson, their son, Tyler Mitchum Anderson and his wife, Elizabeth Anderson, all of Marietta, Ga.; her great grandson, Oliver Anderson, and her great granddaughter, Lillian Zitlow, of Pooler, Ga.; her sister, Virginia Battle, and her husband, Frank Battle, of Conyers, Ga.; her sister, Mary Jo Read, and her husband, Ivan Read, of Pooler, Ga.; her sister, Nancy Peters of Lakeway, Texas; her sister, Beth Brantley of Warner Robins, Ga.; her brother, Luther Brantley, and his wife, Ginny Brantley of Warner Robins, Ga.; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in her death by her parents, Luther Elmer Brantley and Mary Agnes Haire-Brantley, her first husband, W.S. Anderson, and her second husband, Henry Merle Eason.  A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at Thomas C. Strickland & Sons in Pooler, GA at 2:00 PM with visitation immediately preceding beginning at 1:00 PM.  Donations in her memory can be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Cancer Society.
