Mrs. Mary Joy Burgess Anderson, 89, of Savannah, GA, passed away on Monday, February 14, 2022 at Memorial Health University Medical Center.

She was born in Pembroke, GA to the late John Shelton Burgess and Evelyn Grace "Eva" Owens Burgess.  She was also preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, James Wink Anderson, Jr., and siblings, John Shelton Burgess, Martha DuBois, Lucy Crawley, and Gloria Christopher.  She was a member of Riverside Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school, worked as a nursery worker, and taught VBS for over 30 years.  She will be remembered as a faithful loving wife, dedicated Christian mother, grandmother, and friend.

Survivors include her children, James Edward "Jimmy" Anderson (Judy), Marshall Jay Anderson (Tricia-deceased), Gary Anderson (Teresa), Chris Anderson (Linda), and Tina Groover; grandchildren, Kathy Cooper, Jay Anderson, Kenny Anderson, Brooke Redd, Amanda Newton, Shea Taylor, Tripp Walker, Brittany Parrish, Lyndsay Raffield, Noel Sypher, and Laura Grace Groover; a number of great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The visitation will be on Friday, February 18 ^th from 1 until 2 p.m. at the funeral home.  The funeral will follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home.  The graveside funeral and burial will follow at 4 p.m. at Lower Lotts Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery located at the corner of Highway 46 and Highway 301 in Bulloch County.
