Meldrim-Mrs. Mary Willene Calhoun, 78, passed away on Monday, February 1, 2016 at St. Joseph's Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Garfield to the late Ralph & Madie Riner. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. Calhoun. She was a member of the Meldrim Baptist Church for over 50 years, and was a homemaker with a passion for flowers. She was also active for many years with the Effingham County Recreation Department. Her love and generosity will surely be missed by family and friends.
Survivors include her children, Terri Knapp (Lee), and Tony Calhoun (Cindy); grandchildren, Tammy, Tori, Justin, Wesley, Cody, and Salena; nine great-grandchildren; brothers, Wiley Riner (Barbara), and Leamon Riner (Connie), and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Funeral: 2 p.m. Friday at Meldrim Baptist Church located at 229 Ohoopee Avenue. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
