Ms. Mary Elizabeth Dempsey, 97, of Guyton, passed away on Friday, July 6, 2018 at the Effingham Extended Care Facility.

She was born in Nichols, GA to the late John H. & Fannie Bagley.  She was also preceded in death by husbands, Otha B. Patterson & Rudolph J. Dempsey; children, Lamar Patterson, Sherrill Patterson and Linda Bohannon, and son-in-law, Buddy Hollingsworth.  She had lived in Guyton for the past 34 years and was a Baptist.  She had been employed with Union Camp for 7 years, had worked at the Waycross Cigar Factory, and later the Rose of Sharon as a Cosmotologist.

Survivors include her children, Marvin H. Patterson (Rhonda) and Emily J. Hollingsworth; grandchildren, Tonya Strickland (Stan), Darren Hollingsworth (Debbie), Angela Campbell (Rich), Michael Patterson, Kimberly Bohannon and Donna Bohannon; 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The visitation will be on Wednesday, July 11 ^th from 11 a.m. until 12 noon at the Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home located at 901 W. Hwy. 80 in Pooler with the graveside funeral and burial to follow at 1 p.m. at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens located at 315 Greenwich Road in Savannah.
