Port Wentworth - Mary Margaret Loyack Capwell, affectionately known as Nana to all those who loved her, made a smooth transition into Heaven on March 31, 2016. She was 88 years old.
Mary was born in Pittston, PA, on September 14, 1927, the daughter of the late Josephine Solowiej Loyack and Andrew Loyack. She was a 1945 graduate of Camptown High School in Camptown, PA. She resided in Savannah, GA, for over 60 years. Mary retired from Gulfstream Aerospace, where she worked as an electrician. She was never idle. After retirement, she shuttled cars for Springfield Chrysler. She was an avid sportswoman who enjoyed bowling and playing golf.
Mary was welcomed into Heaven by her husband for 36 years, Robert L. Capwell, Jr., and her sister, Evelyn Loyack Nichols, and brother, Robert Loyack. She is survived by twin daughters: Joy Capwell Aiken (Wendell) and Pamela Capwell (Benjie), and three sons: Robert L. Capwell III (Melissa), Andrew W. Capwell (Sha'ree), and Harry M. Capwell (Mickie). She is also survived by her sister, Arlene Loyack Miller in Ontario, NY, and her brother, Gerald Loyack in Londonderry, NH. In addition, Nana will be lovingly remembered by 19 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service celebrating Nana's life will be in the funeral home chapel, on Monday, April 4, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Abbey West on Dean Forest Road. Flowers for the service will be provided by the family. Memorial donations honoring Nana can be made to The Ronald McDonald House of the Coastal Empire, 4710 Waters Ave., Savannah, GA 31404.
