Bloomingdale-Mrs. Mary Wylena Otto, 89, passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at
her home.
Mrs. Otto was born in Kite, GA and lived for a number of years in Georgetown, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Henry Otto, Jr. Mrs. Otto was a
charter member of Emanuel Baptist Church in Savannah and had taught Sunday School
for a number of years before moving to Ohio. She was a member of the First Baptist
Church in Mount Orab, OH and had worked for a number of years at J.C. Penny's in
Savannah. Mrs. Otto was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Charles & Ruth Otto, III of Amelia,
OH, Rev. Kenneth & Micki Otto of Bloomingdale, David & Linda Otto of Loveland, OH
and Nelson & JoAnn Otto of Georgetown, OH; fifteen grandchildren, fifteen
great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; sister, Frankie Craycraft of
Jacksonville, FL and a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Otto had three siblings that
preceded her in death.
The visitation for Mrs. Otto will be from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, January 16, 2009 and
1:30-2:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at the Thomas C. Strickland & Sons
Funeral Home, West Chatham Chapel in Pooler.
The funeral to celebrate Mrs. Otto's life will be at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 17,
2009 in the chapel of the Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home. Mrs. Otto's son,
Rev. Kenneth Otto will officiate and the pallbearers will be Paul Otto, Ben Otto, Zach
Otto, Alex Otto, Richard Collins and Mike Cross. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Abbey
East Cemetery on Wheaton Street in Savannah.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers a remembrance may be made to the Mission
Fund at Bloomingdale Alliance Church, P.O. Box 280, Bloomingdale, GA 31302
