Mrs. Mary T. Stewart Collins, 94, of Statesboro, Georgia passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2023 at Eagles Nursing Home.

She was born in Savannah, Georgia on May 10, 1929 to Edward and Catherine Stewart.  She was also preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Floyd Collins Sr., sons, Frederick (Freddie) Collins and Floyd Collins, Jr., granddaughter, Angel (Chrissy) Hall Wilson,, grandson, Jamie Stewart, great-grandson, Nolan Collins, brother, Edward Stewart, and many close friends.

She met and married Floyd Collins Sr. in 1947.  They started their family and moved to Bloomingdale, Georgia where they started their business, Collins Fruit Stand.  Mary was a homemaker.  She was also a member of Westside Christian Church in Bloomingdale, Georgia and the Senior Citizens of Pooler, Georgia.  She loved church, her family, friends, bingo, fishing, dancing, and the mountains.  She will be remembered for never staying home and for being independent, outgoing, loving her quiet time with a cup of coffee and eating a chicken box.

Survivors include her children, Diane Smith (Owen) of Statesboro, Georgia, Carolyn Daniel of Savannah, Georgia, Virginia Lakely (Allen) of Winston Salem, North Carolina, and David Collins of Edgewater, Florida; grandchildren, April Walker (Josh) of Rincon, Georgia, William Gordon of Clyo, Georgia, Wendy Watkins (Brad) of Pembroke, Georgia, David Collins, Jr. (Jessica) of Garden City, Georgia, Gabe Collins (Jessica) of Statesboro, Georgia, Aaron Collins of Rincon, Georgia, Jonathan Collins of Springfield, Georgia, Eleanie and Justin Roberson of Portal, Georgia, Christopher Gaskins of North Carolina, Courtney and Candice Collins of Garden City, Georgia, and Dana Lamb (Jason) of Edgewater, Florida; great-grandchildren, Faith Sherrod, Gage Sherrod, Landon Walker, Hayley Chrysler, Addison, Chloe and Brody Gordon, Allie and Joey Collins, Christen Collins, Ali Kay, Abranna, Gabe Wall, and Haley Collins; great-great-grandchildren, Kurstin Chrysler and Micih Crysler.

The visitation will be on Monday, July 17, 2023 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

The funeral to honor Mary's life will be on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at 5 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Leonard Daugherty officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the funeral home.
