Garden City - Mr. Matt Denmark,82, passed away on June 22 at his home.
Mr. Denmark was born in Bulloch County and had lived in Garden City since 1951. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara H. Denmark; and son-in-law, Tony Thomas. He served his country in the U.S. Army in WWII in the 143rd Combat engineer. He retired from Savannah Distributing Company in 1991 after many years of service. He formerly had served on the Garden City Recreation Department and was a member of both the Savannah Exchange Club and the American Legion.
Survivors include his daughters, Susan McBride of Savannah and Rebekah Thomas of Garden City; grandchildren, Christal Yates of Rincon, Sean McBride of Tampa, FL, Jaime Thomas Williams (Byron) and Cody (Bree) Thomas both of Savannah; great-grandchildren, Spencer Moberg, Taylor McBride, Brody Williams, Ashlyn McBride, and Caden Thomas; sisters, Blanche Sijarto of Florida, and Verna Knight of Leefield; brother, Dean Denmark of Jacksonville, FL and a number of nieces and nephews and special friend and care-giver, Dawn Davis.
Visitation: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial Service: 1 p.m. on Friday in the chapel of the funeral home.
