Obituary

Savannah - Mrs. Melrose Altman Banks, 88, passed away Saturday, January 29, 2011 at
St. Joseph's Hospital.

Mrs. Banks was born in Evans County to the late Claude Leroy and Mary Rebecca Todd
Altman. She was employed with the Chatham County School System for 26 years as a
bus driver. She was a member of Daniel Baptist Church and the Sarah Seekers Sunday
School Class. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Perry Banks.

Survivors include her children and spouses, Brenda Banks Kohler and Tom of Ellabell,
Perry L. Banks, Sr. and Susan of Savannah and Rev. Alfred Banks and Rita of Richmond
Hill; foster child, Sylvia Davis and Toby of Ludowici; sister, Myrtice Ray and Benny of
Savannah; ten grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson
and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 11 a.m. - 9 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home

Funeral: 3 p.m. on Wednesday at Daniel Baptist Church in Richmond Hill with Rev.
Alfred Banks and Rev. Steve McCoy officiating. Active pallbearers will be Perry L.
Banks, Jr., Alfred Banks, Jr., Ernie Banks, Travis Herndon, Barry Kohler and Ryan
McNeill. Burial will follow at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery on Little Neck Road.

Remembrances may be made to the Daniel Baptist Church Building Fund, 580 Daniel
Siding Loop Road, Richmond Hill, GA 31324
