Melvin Thomas Pierce Jr. "Tommy", 79, of Springfield, Ga. passed away on August 15, 2022, from a long fight with Pancreatic cancer.
Tommy Pierce was born on March 3,1943 in Savannah, GA, where he was also raised. He was a natural born truck driver and served in the U.S. Navy, including a year on the USS Enterprise.
Tommy is survived by his loving wife, Thelma; 2 sons, Richie and Robbie; Yvonna (mother of Tommy's boys); Precious (his little fur baby); Deloris (daughter); Linda (sister); Randy and Billy (2 nephews); Pamela (sister); 3 grandchildren; 6 great grands; a great-great grandson; and many nieces and nephews. He is proceeded in death by his father and mother, Melvin Thomas Pierce Sr. and Luerita Counts Pierce, and a daughter, Pam Cribb.
Tommy was a wonderful man, loving husband, dad, and papa. He always made sure his family was taken care of. He worked every day he could. Tommy would do anything to help anyone. He was a member of Springfield First Baptist Church. Tommy was also a proud member of the American Legion.
Visitation will be held Wednesday August 17 th at Strickland and Sons Funeral Home in Rincon, Ga. from 6pm-8pm
Funeral will be held Thursday August 18 th at Springfield First Baptist Church in Springfield, Ga. at 11am with burial to follow at Effingham Memorial Gardens.
During Mr. Pierce's last years, he battled with cancer and acquired medical bills that his wife is now left with. We are asking that all donations be made directly to Thelma Pierce or can be sent to Springfield First Baptist Church, Attention: Thelma Pierce, 1435 GA-119, Springfield, Ga. 31329.
