Guyton – Melvin "Ed" Ted Bishop, 78, passed away Friday, May 24, 2024 after a long illness at his home.
The Baxley native was a member of Mt. Zion Church and had honorably served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He had worked with the Columbus Police Department, been a chef, was sales manager for pest control company, and was owner/operator of Georgia Memorial Monument Company. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Lucille Bishop; grandson, Chance Bishop; granddaughter, Summer Bishop; and sister, Barbara Thompson.
Ed was a longtime Atlanta Braves fan, that loved meeting people and being kind to all. He loved fishing, but mostly loved being with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Traci Nicole Bishop; children, Shane Bishop (Angela), Teresa Simmons (Paul), Jamie Bishop (LeAnn), Tina Gay (Tony), Christy Harris (Joey), Timmy Winters (Nikki), Derick Bishop (Christina), and Brandon Bishop ( Ashley); a sister, Phyllis Deloach; 20 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation: 6-8 pm Wednesday, May 29, 2024 in the funeral home.
Funeral: 11 am Thursday, May 30, 2024 in the funeral home chapel.
Interment: Guyton Cemetery
Remembrances: American Cancer Society or a Veteran's Group.
