Michael James Sapp, affectionately known as Jimmy, peacefully passed away on Friday, September 1, 2023, at the age of 78, surrounded by his beloved family.
Mr. Jimmy Sapp was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Wendelken Sapp, and his father, James Thomas Sapp.
Mr. Sapp is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Trudie Wilson Sapp, and his son, Jared Sapp.
During his working years, Mr. Sapp dedicated his time to Colonial Oil Industries, Inc., where he served as an account representative.
Jimmy Sapp found fulfillment in his involvement with various roles within the First Baptist Church of Springfield, GA. Over the years, he held positions such as deacon, chairman of the benevolence committee, personnel committee member, and church trustee, and was recently honored for his remarkable 50-year tenure as a Sunday School teacher. Additionally, Mr. Sapp was an active member of Gideons International, an organization he cherished. He took great joy in distributing new testaments to students, contributing to their spiritual growth.
Known for his selfless nature, Mr. Sapp exemplified a servant's heart. Even in retirement, he could be seen daily, cruising around on his golf cart, delivering newspapers to his neighbors, and spreading joy wherever he went.
Visitation: Tuesday, September 5, 2023: 9:30 am-10:45 am
Funeral: Tuesday, September 5, 2023: 11:00 am
Visitation and Funeral both shall be held at First Baptist Church of Springfield, Georgia. Burial immediately followed at Effingham Memorial Gardens.
