Michael "Dale" Smith, 67, of Guyton, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, September 30, 2021 at his home.

Dale was born in Hampton County, South Carolina and was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd A. Smith as well as his grandparents, Shelly and Katie Jarrell, Ed and Vergie Smith.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Port Wentworth but attended South Newington Baptist Church.  He was a 1971 graduate of Groves High School and a former member of the Port Wentworth Marine Rescue Squadron.  He was employed with Great Dane for 15 years and later retired from Gulfstream Aerospace after 20 years of service.  He enjoyed traveling to the mountains, reading, watching the Atlanta Braves and NASCAR races.

Survivors include his wife of 15 years, Linda Ray Smith; children, Crystal and (Rader) Kennedy, Adam Deal, Ashley and (Dwayne) Bird, and Mathew Hendrix; grandchildren, Regan Kennedy, Chase Kennedy, Anthony Bird, Caroline Bird, and Abigail Bird; mother, Frances Jarrell Smith; brothers, Roger Smith, Carl and (Dana Smith); two nieces and a nephew, Holli Smith, Dustin Smith and Molly Smith Harter.

Due to Covid, the family will have a private funeral and burial.
