Obituary

Bloomingdale-Mrs. Mildred Harper Bragg, 86, went to join her husband in Heaven on November 15, 2013. She was born on August 25, 1927 to the late Arnie and Leita (Collins) Harper. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Royal, and her grandsons, Daniel Hardeman and Tony Sheffield, and her son-in-law, Ronnie Nixon. She had 8 siblings and is survived by her sister, Willene Duggan and her brother, I.E. Harper. She is also survived by her children, Ann (Lavon) Sheffield, Harper L. Bragg, Jr. (Donna), Jill (Johnny) Baker, Jean (Danny) Polk, Mike Bragg, Bonnie (Charlie) Bowers, Sheri (Randy) Hardeman, David (Pam) Bragg and her son-in-law, Talmadge Royal. She retired from Union Camp Paper Company, but her biggest accomplishment is the amazing mother and grandmother that she was. She had 63 grandchildren and great-grandchildren and she had a hand in raising almost all of them. Her home was always open to her family and she always put others before her own. She was a true example of a southern lady and was a perfect example of love, family, and commitment. She was married to Harper L. Bragg, Sr. for over 70 years and they were together in the final minutes of their lives. She was a member of South Newington Baptist Church. The visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, November 17, 2013 in the chapel of the funeral home. The funeral to honor Mrs. Bragg's life was held at 1 p.m. on Monday, November 18, 2013 at South Newington Baptist Church with Rev. Steve McCoy. Mrs. Bragg's grandsons served as pallbearers. The burial followed at Westside Memorial Gardens.
