Springfield – Milton Edward Smith, Sr., 62, passed away January 24, 2022 at his residence.

The Chatham County native was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Joseph Smith, Sr. and Cora Estal Spaulding Smith.  He was a retired painter having worked for Stokes Contracting over 30 years at the Sugar Refinery.  He was a very generous man who loved his family and having a good time.  He was an avid pool player, bowler, and loved the water.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Jean Smith; sons, Milton Edward Smith, Jr. (Ashley Denice) and Robert Joseph Smith, III (Rose Andrea); step-children, Angela Moore (Henry), Robert James Lord, Jr., and Roger Jason Lord (deceased); 10 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; siblings, Mary Bennett (Charles, deceased), Bobby Smith (deceased), wife Judy, Rudy Smith (Pam), and Bill Smith (Melissa); several nieces and nephews.  He will surely be missed by all of his family, friends, and the community.

No formal services will be held.
