Minnie Lee Helmey "Mama Minnie" Zipperer
Guyton – Minnie Lee Helmey "Mama Minnie" Zipperer, 94, passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at Effingham Care Center.
Mrs. Zipperer was born in Marlow on October 21, 1917 to the late Ward Leroy Helmey and Emma Amelia Fetzer, and was also preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, John Henry Zipperer, son, John Roland Zipperer, sister, Hilda Collins, brothers, Leroy, George, Harley, Walton, and Ralph. She was a lifetime member of Zion Lutheran Church where she was in women's W.E.L.C.A, member of the Graduate Sunday School, and previously taught Sunday School. She was a homemaker, kept numerous children in her home for many years, and was a seamstress. She was an active member of the Marlow Farm Bureau, a member of the Effingham County Fair Association, and was active in P.T.A. for many years.
Survivors include her children Emma Lee Dasher (Clayton) and Martell Hall (Micheal) all of Guyton; daughter-in-law, Brenda Pack (Larry) of Ellabell; grandchildren, Holly Zipperer of Hatfield, PA, Wade Zipperer (Mandy) of Guyton, Adam Pack (Daniella) of Pooler, Richard Hall (Karen), Melissa H. Osteen (David), Dana Lee D. Smith (Dana) all of Guyton; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters, Clifford Jackson, Ellen Danker, Bessie Studier; brother, Jack Helmey; sisters-in-law, Wilma Helmey and Ollie Mae Zipperer all of Guyton.
We would like to extend our gratitude to the staff at Effingham Care Center who helped with her care.
Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Zion Lutheran Church. Mrs. Zipperer will lie in state from 2 p.m.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Remembrances may be given to Zion Lutheran Church Land Fund, 121 Noel C. Conaway Road, Guyton, GA 31312.
