Obituary

Port Wentworth-Mr. Mitch Kerby, 57, passed away on Monday, October 31, 2011 at his home.
Mr. Kerby was born in Savannah to the late Delmas & Peggy Edwards Kerby. He was a member of the Goshen Road Baptist Church and he retired from the Savannah Sugar Refinery after 37 years of service. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, including watching J.T. play baseball and football. He was an avid University of Georgia Bulldog fan, enjoyed watching NASCAR, camping, boating and riding his motorcycle. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Lena & Ralph Edwards and Bennie & Daisy Kerby and his father-in-law, T.W. Hendley.
Survivors include his wife, Patty Kerby; children, Danielle Kerby Townsend and her husband, Jason; Gerred Mitchell Kerby and his wife, Tina; grandchildren, Courtney, Morgan and J.T. Townsend, Madison and Aubrey Kerby; step-grandchildren, Kalie, Emily and Alyssa Waters; sisters, Susan Hudson and Judy Tyson; brother, Scott Kerby; several nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Grace Hendley Rahn and his beloved dog, Gabby Girl.
Visitation: 5-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Funeral: 12 noon Saturday at Goshen Road Baptist Church located at 1323 Goshen Road in Rincon. Mr. Kerby will lie in state from 11-12 at the Church.
Graveside Funeral: 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Elam Baptist Church Cemetery located at 5199 Elam Road in Millen.
