Obituary

Muriel Jean Healy

RINCON - Muriel Jean Healy, 86, died on Saturday, April 18, 2020 at Effingham Hospital.

Muriel was the oldest daughter of John P. Healy, Jr. and Jean McNaughton Healy and sister to Timothy, to Mike, and to Patrick Healy.  She is survived by her brother, Tim.  Tim and Muriel had a special kinship and looked out for one another.

Muriel grew up with her family in Wichita, Kansas.  Muriel's love and appreciate of children lead her to spend 47 years working in both public and Catholic elementary and middle schools. She began as a teacher and later worked as principal.  Muriel felt the call of service early on and dedicated both her heart and her devotion to the Catholic Church. In 1965 she entered the Sisters of Charity Blessed Virgin Mary (BVM) Community of Catholic Women in Dubuque, Iowa and spent 17 and 1/2 years as a Catholic Nun. Muriel moved to the Savannah area in 2010 and was a volunteer at the Carmelite Monastery in Savannah.  She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Springfield, Ga.

At her request we will celebrate Muriel's life and memory at St. Boniface Catholic Church with the 11:00 A.M. Sunday Mass at a later date.

Muriel asked that you consider a donation to the poor box at St. Boniface Catholic Church in lieu of flowers.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever. Psalm 23:6
