Mrs. Myrtice Saxon
(Granny Saxon)

Bloomingdale-Mrs. Myrtice Saxon, 96, died on Saturday, November 29, 2008 at St.
Joseph's Hospital.

Mrs. Saxon was born on March 29, 1912 in Evans County and lived in Candler County
until 1974 when she moved to Bloomingdale. She was a longtime member of the
Evergreen Baptist Church before moving her membership to the First Baptist Church of
Bloomingdale. She was a homemaker and was preceded in death by her husband, Quinn
Saxon, a son, Bobby Saxon and a daughter, Irene Hall.

She is survived by her daughter, Syble (Henry) Brown of Pearland, TX; three sons, Clark
(Geraldine) Saxon of Bloomingdale, GA, Billy (Rose) Saxon of Wallingford, CT and
Olliff (Joan) Saxon of Bunnell, FL; two sisters, Lucille Todd of Claxton, GA and
Melrose Jones of Metter, GA; three brothers, Jack and Edward Tucker of Claxton, GA
and Johnny Tucker of Bloomingdale, GA; fourteen grandchildren, twenty-three
great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

The visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, December 1, 2008 at the Thomas C.
Strickland & Sons Funeral Home, West Chatham Chapel in Pooler.

The funeral to celebrate Mrs. Saxon's life will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, December 2,
2008 in the chapel of the funeral home. Rev. Ronny Saxon and Rev. Darrel Bailey will
officiate. The active pallbearers will be her great-grandsons, Zack Saxon, Quinn Saxon,
Johnathan Shuman, Daniel Jones, Jed Cox and John Clegg. Honorary Pallbearers will be
members of the Fidelis Sunday School Class of the First Baptist Church of Bloomingdale.
The graveside service will follow at 3:30 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery in Candler County.
