Obituary

Mrs. Nancy P. Bachner, 75, of Pooler, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at her home.

Nancy was born in Jersey City, New Jersey.  Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Vincent and Ann Massa and her sister, Barbara Carlon.

Survivors include her loving husband Ronald J. Bachner; daughters Leslie Ann DeMedici and Lauren Ann Bachner; son-in-law Darren V. DeMedici; sisters Joanne Malaniak, Frances DeFilippis and Margaret Hansen; brothers-in-law Chris Hansen and Tom Carlon; grandchildren Andrew, Ryan, Mia, Tristan and Logan as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Nancy worked for various employers, most notably as Manager of Human Resources for Hartz Mountain in New Jersey, Senior Manager of Human Resources for Xonics in Chicago, who was a manufacturer of X-Ray equipment at that time and finally as Director of Human Resources for PM Hager & Associates in Chicago.

After the birth of her second child, Nancy retired and dedicated herself to her daughters, Lauren, a newborn and Leslie, who was in high school.  Nancy was always engaged in helping others and when she and her husband moved to Monroe, Connecticut, Nancy volunteered at St. Jude Catholic School where she was on the school board and oversaw new fund-raising programs to support the school.  Nancy developed and ran numerous golf tournaments for St. Jude which supported needed school activities and supplies for the children.  Upon moving to Pooler, Georgia, Nancy was invited to join the Social Apostolate of Savannah, an affiliation of the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist and quickly threw herself into supporting those who needed help.  Nancy was asked by the Director to take over and run the major fund-raising program which is an annual golf tournament.  Nancy achieved great success in her fund-raising efforts and was able to significantly increase the much-needed financial resources for the Social Apostolate.

When she wasn't volunteering, Nancy enjoyed hobbies such as golfing, reading, films, cooking for her family and friends, gardening and travel.  She recently took a trip with her husband, sisters and brother-in-law to Positano, Italy, which was a life-long dream of hers.  She vacationed with her husband, family and friends on Hilton Head Island every summer, where they played golf, enjoyed the beach and made so many wonderful cherished memories.

A Mass to commemorate Nancy's life will be held at the Basilica Cathedral of St. John the Baptist located at 222 East Harris Street in Savannah, Georgia on Thursday, May 16, 2024 at 10 a.m..  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Nancy B. Lewis Cancer Center in Savannah, GA.
