Driggers Dasher
March 21, 1937 – August 28, 2021
Naomi Elizabeth Driggers Dasher, 84, passed away on August 28, 2021. A lifelong educator, she earned her bachelor's, master's, and education specialist degrees from Georgia Southern University. A native of Bulloch County, she moved to Effingham County to begin her teaching career and spent 34 years at Marlow Elementary School as a teacher, lead reading teacher, assistant principal, and principal. After retiring, she worked part-time for four years for the Effingham County School District as coordinator of the First-Year Teacher program.
Naomi was a member of Powers Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school and worked with the senior adult program.
Naomi especially loved cooking for people; watching birds, particularly cardinals; and helping children learn to read.
Naomi was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Lowell Dasher; her parents Sidney and Stella Driggers; her brothers Clayton, William, and Harold Driggers and her sister Ernestine Drysdale.
She is survived by her children Anthony Dasher (Cathy), Elaine Dasher (John Palmer), and Holly Dasher. She is survived by two grandchildren, Rebecca Palmer and Jack Palmer. She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Emma Lee Dasher and Sadie Driggers, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and her beloved cat, Lucy.
Visitation will be Wednesday, September 1, from 6-8 pm at Thomas C. Strickland and Sons Funeral Home, Effingham Chapel, in Rincon.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 2, at 10 am at Powers Baptist Church in Eden, which will be followed by a brief graveside service at approximately 11 am at Zion Lutheran Church in Guyton.
