Mr. Nathaniel Jackson Lanier, Sr., 89, of Guyton, passed away on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loved ones.
Mr. Lanier was born in Waycross to the late Walter Raleigh & Ruth Lanier. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Naomi Plummer Lanier, sister, Mary Lanier, and son, Nathaniel Jackson "Jack" Lanier, Jr. He raised up as a member of the Thunderbolt Masonic Lodge in Thunderbolt, GA and later became a member of the Raeford Masonic Lodge # 306 in Raeford, NC, where he resided for a number of years. He had been employed with the Corp of Engineers and later with the City of Savannah. He was a member of Christ Baptist Church in Ellabell. He served his country in the National Guard Unit of the Georgia Hussars, 101 st C.A.V.M. and was a member of American Legion Post 209. He enjoyed Bible reading every day, story writing about his grandchildren and loved gospel and classical music. His greatest wish was for all of his grandchildren to be saved. He had a kind heart and love for everyone, always sharing the love of his Savior with others.
Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Lanier; our children, Gloria Gibson (Jimmy), Jean McClendon (Bill), Robert (Melodie), Billy and Terrell (Toni) Criswell; daughter-in-law, Karen Lanier; 13 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren, 2 great-greatgrandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Funeral: 11 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of the funeral home with burial to follow at Lower Black Cemetery.
