Obituary
Savannah – Mrs. Nellie Ruth Dowd Deal passed away at home on Thursday, April 19, 2012. God has taken another precious angel home.
Mrs. Deal was born in Lyons, GA to the late Carrie and Nick Dowd. She retired from Union Camp Box Plant and was a member of the local union 388. She was a member of the Garden City Church of God which is now known as the Living Faith Church of God. In her younger years she taught the small children in Sunday school and Bible school for many years. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ira W. Deal; daughter, Donna Macon; two brothers; a sister; grandson, Rob Rockwell; son-in-law, Bob Macon, Sr. and one great-granddaughter.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories a son, Jerriel (Jerry) Deal; daughter, Shirley (Dave) Myers; two brothers; three sisters; 11 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
We were truly blessed to have her as a wonderful Christian mother and granny. She loved her Lord and her family. She taught everyone she could about his love and saving grace. She will truly be missed by everyone who knew her. It was an honor and privilege to be her caregivers.
Special thanks to Hospice Savannah for their excellent care. They were a true blessing to her and our family. Special thanks also to Maggie Wardlaw and Frances Hightower for their Christian love and prayers.
We all know that she is now at peace with our Lord and Savior. Angels are singing another angel has come home.
The visitation was from 10:30-12 noon on Tuesday, April 24, 2012. The funeral to celebrate Mrs. Deal's life followed at 12 noon in the chapel of the funeral home. Rev. Emmett Patterson and Rev. Robbie Earl Peebles officiated, Mrs. Shanna Loper and Mrs. Marva Pray shared remarks and the pallbearers were Lynwood Griner, Keith Deal, Buddy Deal, Billy Macon, Johnny Griner and Sandy Loper. Burial followed at Westside Memorial Gardens.
Flowers will be welcomed, but you may also make remembrance to Hospice Savannah at 13190, Savannah, GA 31416.
