Mr. Nolan Debbs Phillips, Jr. 85, of Bloomingdale, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at Pruitthealth Seaside in Port Wentworth, Georgia.
He was born in El Paso, Texas to the late Nolan Debbs Phillips and Mary Lynn Phillips. He served his country in the United States Marines and later retiring from the United States Army where he was a Crew Chief and Maintenance Instructor for the UH1 Huey Helicopter. After retirement from the military he worked at Gulfstream Aerospace. He served in the Vietnam War and was a world traveler while in the Army. He lived in Iran and Germany, and he enjoyed traveling and visiting all the sites in each country. Early in his life he loved to fish, hunt and go camping. He loved music and was always singing, humming or whistling a tune. Later he enjoyed going out to eat, movies, and trying to fix anything himself. He absolutely adored and loved his dog Rusty, who he found as a stray. He believed the best place to talk to God was in the woods.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah Phillips; son, Scott Phillips and wife Michelle; daughter, Kathy Hamidi and husband Adnan; grandchildren, Scott Phillips II (Scotty), Brittany Cook, and Joshua Hamidi; two great-grandchildren, Nola Edwards and Grayson Hurst. A granddaughter, Samantha (Sam) Garrett, preceded Mr. Phillips in death in April of 2021.
Mr. Phillips wishes were to be cremated.
