Meldrim- Oscar Benjamin "Benny" Love, 67, son of Oscar Benjamin Love, Sr. and the late Myrtle Johnson Love, died Saturday, February 15, 2014 at his residence. He was a veteran having served in the United States Navy in the Naval Mobile Construction Battalion in Antarctica. Mr. Love was awarded the Antarctica Service Medal and the National Defense Medal for his service with the United States Naval Seabees in Antarctica. He worked with Southern Bell as an electronic technician for thirty four years. Upon his retirement he co-founded B and P Tile Company. Mr. Love was preceded in death by his son, Michael Shannon Love and his second wife, Rita Love.
Surviving are his sons, Oscar Benjamin "Benjy" Love and his wife, Kelly of Lake Shelbyville, Illinois and Anthony Jason Love and his wife, Jada of Springfield; fifteen grandchildren; two brothers, Frank Love of Pooler and Jack Love of Ellabell; a sister, Peggy Love Hales of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Funeral Service: Wednesday at 11:00 in the Chapel of the funeral home.
Interment: Oak Hill Cemetery.
