Mr. Oscar E. Wilcox, Sr. 77, of Garden City, died on Thursday, March 6, 2008 at his
home with his family at his side.
Mr. Wilcox was born in Byronville and had lived in Garden City for many years. He
retired from AB Rental Car and was a member of Central Baptist Church. He served his
country as a Merchant Marine during World War II. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and
was a Rusty Wallace fan.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy L. Wilcox of Garden City; children, Patsy & Billy
West of Kathleen, Vallie & Herbie Evans of Garden City, Emmitt & Kerrie Wilcox, Jr. of
Garden City, Teresa & Bert Hammond, Sr. of Bloomingdale and James & Julia Wilcox of
Garden City; 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law,
Betty Jean & Ovid Wade of Glenville; brother, Sammy Wilcox of New Mexico and
several nieces and nephews and a God daughter, Kay Rought of Pooler.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
Funeral: 10 a.m. on Saturday at Central Baptist Church. Mr. Wilcox will lie in state
from 9-10 a.m. at the Church.
Graveside Funeral: 2:30 p.m. on Saturday at Giddens Cemetery in Eastman.
