Obituary

Patricia "Pat" Bohler, 89, passed away September 17, 2022, at her daughter's residence.

She was born in Strawn, TX to the late William Everett Haltom and the late Lillian Opal Johnson Haltom.  She attended Texas Tech and then completed her  Education degree at Armstrong State College.  She received her Masters and Teachers Specialist degrees from Georgia Southern University.  She retired from the Savannah Chatham County Public School System where she taught elementary, Title 1 Reading and adult education classes.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years: Bobby Gordon Bohler; brother, Dowell Hartsfield, and her infant granddaughter, Courtney Elizabeth Alford.

Pat was a faithful member of Garden City UMC for 57 years where she taught Sunday School, served as president of the United Methodist Women, and on other church committees. She was a member of the Barrett/Cadle Sunday School Class and Hooks Circle. She rarely missed attending worship and church activities. The only birthday gifts she requested in her later years were for her kids and grands to be in church with her.

Community activities included girl scout leader, softball coach, recreation commission, and the GC housing committee.  In addition to her time with family, she also loved spending time with her friends at the Garden City Senior Center and assisted with delivery of Meals-On-Wheels in GC.

She is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Leesa and Greg Hunter, Bendy and Mark Grainger, Becky and Troy Alford, and Vicki and Ricky Meeks; 11 grandchildren and their spouses, Gordon and Hannah Hunter, Jesse and Lauren Hunter, Sam and Kacie Grainger, Luke and Katelyn Grainger, Garrett and Chrissy Alford, Judd and Bailey Alford, Caroline and Tim Fortier, Spencer Alford, Olivia and Jesse Osborne, Benjamin and Mikaela Meeks, Nolan Meeks and his fiancé Jessica Cooper; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Lincoln of Dallas, Texas, Mary Railston of El Paso, Texas; and brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Don and Dorothy Hartsfield of Austin, Texas; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Darwin & Joyce Bohler and Charlie Millican of Statesboro, and many nieces and nephews.

The memorial service to celebrate Pat's life will be held on Friday September 23, 2022, at 4 pm at the First Baptist Church of Garden City located at 35 Nelson Avenue.  The family will receive friends following the service at Garden City United Methodist Church Memorial Hall located at 62 Varnedoe Avenue.  In lieu of flowers, the family requested donations to GCUM playground https://gardencityumc.churchcenter.com/giving/to/patbohler or GCUM 62 Varnedoe Avenue Garden City Georgia 31408.
