Patricia A. Meeler, 62, of Guyton, GA, passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at Candler Hospital.
Pat was born in Dublin and raised in Soperton. She was preceded in death by her father, Alvin Meeler, and was of the Baptist faith. She was a retired school teacher after 30 years of service, with over 20 years at Port Wentworth Elementary School. She also was employed at Sapp's Wrecker Service, starting out part-time while she was teaching, and later full time. She was a Georgia Southern Alumni.
Survivors include her mother Helen Meeler Simmons and step-father Bill Simmons, sister Denise Lorenz and brother-in-law Marvin Lorenz, niece Maci Robinson and husband Taylor Robinson, several aunts, uncles, and cousins. All of her former students, which she considered her kids.
A local visitation will be on Friday from 4-6 p.m. at the Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home located at 901 West Highway 80 in Pooler, GA.
A Soperton visitation will be on Saturday from 10 a.m. – 12 noon at Sammons Funeral Home located at 4201 W. Main Street in Soperton, GA. The funeral will follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Sammons Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Spier officiating. Burial will follow at Westview Cemetery in Soperton.
