Obituary

Patricia (Pat) Cook Wooten, age 84, passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease. She was surrounded by her loving family and now rests in the arms of her personal Lord and Savior in Heaven. Lovingly known as Pat, she shared a 60 year marriage with the love of her life, Harold Dean Wooten.  Pat was a loving mother to their four children, sons, David Wooten of Guyton and Harold Wooten, Jr. (deceased), and daughters, Missy Cubbedge (Larry) of Guyton and Vicky Stevenson (Michael) of Clyo. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Brandon Stevenson, Kristina Stevenson, Chandler Cubbedge, and Courtney Cubbedge. Pat was affectionately known by her grandchildren as "Granny" and will be sorely missed by them. She is survived by one sister, Loretta Powers of Henderson, Texas and is preceded in death by her mother, father, and brother.

Patricia was born in Miley, South Carolina in 1937. She and Dean met in Hampton, South Carolina at the local Red & White grocery store and began a courtship at that time.  Together they moved to Springfield, Georgia and created a loving home there for over 60 years.  The couple quickly joined Springfield Baptist Church and have been active members since that time.

Pat cared deeply for her husband, children, grandchildren, loved ones, friends, church family, neighbors, and coworkers. Some of Patricia's happiest memories were spent at the beach with friends and family, at Jaycees Club events, watching her children's ball games, Saturday night dancing at the Alee Temple in Savannah, and sending notes and making raisin bread for friends and the sick in her community.

Patricia's work career included 30 years at the Springfield Western Auto Store, which she and Dean were co-owners of, as well as a 10 year career at Effingham County Schools.  She was a busy lady, but always made time to serve her family, friends, and the Lord.  Pat will forever be cherished and missed by those who knew and loved her.

A celebration of life will be held at Strickland's Funeral Home Chapel, Hwy. 21, Springfield, Georgia on Friday, March 18, 2022.  Visitation will be held at 2:00 p.m. and service at 3:00 p.m.  Burial will immediately follow at Springfield Cemetery. The family asks that remembrances be sent to the Alzheimer's Association.
