Patrick U. Porter

Marlow – Patrick U. Porter, 89, born August 16, 1929 passed away November 15, 2018 at his residence.

The Effingham County native served in the National Guard for 8 years and the Navy Reserves for 8 years. He was a member of Pineora Baptist Church, a Deacon, and sang in the choir.  He retired from Union Camp after 43 years and was a member of the Guyton Masonic Lodge #428 F. & A.M.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard E. Porter, Sr. and Sarah Neidlinger Porter; sons, Jerry Porter and Michael Shirley; brother, Richard E. Porter, Jr.; and sister, Joanna Royal.

Survivors include his wife, Frances S. Porter; sons, Craig Porter (Wanda), Glen S. Porter, Sr. (Brenda), Maurice Shirley (Donna); daughters-in-law, Cindy Porter and Becky Shirley; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at Pineora Baptist Church followed by funeral services at 1 p.m.

Interment will follow in Effingham Memorial Gardens.
