Mr. Paul Andrew Benner, 75, of Pooler, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at Memorial Health University Medical Center.
Paul was born in Wilmington, Delaware to the late David Benner and Ruth Demmler Benner. Proud to serve his country for over 20 years, Paul was a Vietnam veteran in the United States Navy on the USS New Jersey and retired from the United States Coast Guard as a Chief Warrant Officer. Following his retirement, he spent the remainder of his career as a Project Manager for Motorola. Paul enjoyed playing and watching golf and was an avid reader, he usually had his Kindle in hand.
A devoted husband, Paul's true passion was spending time with his beloved wife, Sandra, whether it was on a cruise to Hawaii, on the deck of their bay house overlooking the ocean in Heart's Delight, Newfoundland, or simply holding hands walking on the beach at Tybee Island.
Lovingly remembered and survived by his wife Sandra Benner, daughter and son-in-law, Krista and Jason Spencer; son, Bryant Benner, grandchildren, Gavin Benner, Ryan and Kole Spencer; sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Michael Sowles; sisters and brothers-in-law, Rosalie Mosdell, Marilyn Duffett, Harris and Barb Mosdell, Chris Mosdell, and a large extended family of nieces and nephews.
Paul's wishes were to be cremated and his remains will be laid to rest at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery with military funeral honors.
In memory of Paul, the family suggests contributions to The Battleship New Jersey Museum and Memorial or the American Heart Association.
