Springfield-Mr.Paul McLeod Brinson, Sr., 85, passed away Monday, May 7, 2012.
He was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Eloise Littlefield Brinson. Survivors include his son, Paul McLeod Brinson, Jr. (Mary Jane), his grandson, Clayton McLeod Brinson (Tiffany), and a brother, Walton S. Brinson (Jackie).
Paul was born on December 22, 1926 in Effingham County, attended school there and later served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific during World War II. He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service for 43 years until his retirement.
He was a longtime member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church where he served as treasurer and a member of the church council. He has since been a member of Springfield United Methodist Church. He was a 50 year member of American Legion Post 209 in Springfield.
Visitation will be from 2 until 4 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home with the funeral to follow at 4 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Springfield Cemetery Annex.
