Obituary

Clyo – Paul W. Howze, 85, passed away November 11, 2022 at his residence.

The Cook County native served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 – 1958.  He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Springfield, former Deacon, and former Sunday School Superintendent.  He retired from Gold Kist in 1997 after 38 years, enjoyed building anything, loved his family, music, fishing, and was a very faithful and giving person.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gruver Nelson Howze and Thelma Odum Howze Strable; brother, Roy Howze.

Survivors include his wife, Janice King Howze; children, Paula Howze Hall (Scott), Gregg Howze (Cindy), and Bryan Howze (Heather); grandchildren, Hayley Rahn (Jaime), Ansley Howze, Erin Stavrakas (Ryan), Garrett Howze, Taylor Howze, Hayden Howze, Chase Howze, and Luke Howze; great-grandchildren, Hadley and Hudson Rahn; sisters, Dona Faye Aguon, Virginia Sumner, Opal Sumner, and Jane Whiddon; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 16, 2022 followed by funeral services at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.

Interment will follow in Union Cemetery in Springfield.

Remembrances may be given to American Heart Association or Alzheimer's Association.
