Mrs. Paula Denise Sommers Richardson, 62, of Kansas City, Missouri, and formerly of Pooler, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at North Kansas City Hospital.

Paula was born in Savannah, Georgia.  She was preceded in death by her husband, James Cone Richardson, her mother, Eleanor "Faye" Barnwell, her father, Loyd "Spook" Jefferson Sommers, her brothers, Norris Jeffery Sommers and Charles Michael Sommers.  She loved spending time and singing with her family, going to the beach, cutting a rug around the house, reading books and doing puzzles.  She was such a kind and loving person.  She was always trying to help others and do what she could for anyone.

Survivors include her sister, Holly Taul; sister-in-law, Donna Sommers; nephews, Ryan Sommers, Loyd Sommers, and Gil "Bubba" Newell, II; nieces, Haley Vessar, Morgan Denise Newell, and Michele Curry; great-nephews, Nox, Nero, and Macklin Curry; great-nieces, Kingsley and Haven Vessar, Novalyse and Mileona Curry; life-long best friend, Vickie "Bunny" Neal, as well as several aunts.

The visitation will be on Friday, September 13, 2024 from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.  The funeral to honor Paula's life will follow at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with burial to follow at Hillcrest Abbey West Cemetery.
