Mrs. Peggy Rager Smith, 72, longtime resident of Port Wentworth, passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at Hospice Savannah.
Mrs. Peggy was born in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Clair & Thelma Rager. She was a member and pastor's wife for many years at the Port Wentworth Alliance Church. She loved children and taught Sunday school for a number of years as well. She was a former teacher at Savannah Christian Day Care.
Survivors include her husband, Rev. John C. Smith, Jr.; daughter and son-in-law, Beth & James Cowart; grandchildren, T.J. and Katie Cowart; 2 sisters, 5 brothers and several nieces and nephews.
The visitation will be on Friday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Port Wentworth Alliance Church located at 222 Cantyre Street. The funeral will be on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Port Wentworth Alliance Church. The graveside funeral and burial will follow at 2 p.m. at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
