Philip Ross Armitage
Springfield – Philip Ross Armitage, 85, passed away February 15, 2016 at Westview Nursing Home.
He retired from Savannah Electric & Power Co. and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Springfield United Methodist Church and the Springfield Masonic Lodge #440 F. & A.M. and was affectionately known as Santa Claus at Wal-Mart for giving the children quarters.
He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Armitage; parents, William and Helen Harper; and his wife of 55 years, Polly Armitage.
He is survived by his daughter, Brenda Thomas; granddaughter, Jennifer (Michael) Pontbriand; great-grandsons, Braden Thomas-Folmar and Logan Pontbriand; and his furbaby, Max.
Visitation will be 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday followed by funeral services at 2 p.m. in the chapel.
Interment will follow in Springfield Cemetery.
