Phillip E. King, Sr.
Springfield- Phillip E. King, Sr., 69, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born in Rock Hill, SC to the late John L. and Margaret Hefner King. He served in the US Navy. He served on the Rincon Town Council, as a Guyton Alderman and an Effingham County Commissioner, where he served as Chairman. He was the current chair of the Effingham County Health Department Board and also a Gateway Mental Health Board Member. He served on the Board of Directors for CASA and Habitat for Humanity. He was a dedicated public servant. He was a faithful member of Countryside Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Glenda McConnell King; children, Phillip King (Sjon), Michael King (Jennifer), Matthew King (Kristen), Clayton King, Theresa Warren (Russell), Margaret King, Patti King, Julie Montgomery (Nathan), and Britney Palpallatoc (Ashley); brothers, Olin King (Carol), Johnny King (Mary), and Jerry King (Brenda); sisters, Earldean Armour, Anne Hendrix, Patricia Thomason (H.G.), and Rita Mitchell (Danny); 16 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Countryside Baptist Church Monday, December 3, 2012 from 6-8 pm.
Funeral will be held on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Countryside Baptist Church.
Burial will follow at Effingham Memorial Gardens.
Remembrances can be made to Countryside Baptist Church Building Fund or Hospice Savannah.
