Obituary

Mr. Quinnie Alvin Pope, 64, of Pooler, GA passed at Hospice Savannah on Monday, May 16, 2016.
He is the son of the late Quinnie H. and Georgina (Vellez) Pope, born September 15, 1951 in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. He attended Savannah High School and joined the U.S. Army in 1969 and was soon deployed to Vietnam. After his service in the Army, he returned to Savannah, started a family and began working at Pressure Concrete Inc., (Gunite contractors) with travel throughout the US and South America. He returned home in 2006 and renewed friendships with many of SHS classmates and lifetime friends throughout Chatham County. He is a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.
He is survived by his daughters, Jessica Pope and Amanda (Chris) Lucas of Meldrim; and grandchildren, Dashawn Mann, Aniya Mann, Grayson Lucas and Ella Lucas; a sister, Tommie Lee Pope Mobley, Melbourne, FL, brothers, Bill W. Pope, Fayetteville, NC, and Robert L. (Darlene) Pope, Peachtree City, GA; former wife, Nell Hansford; uncle, Thomas W. Pope, Millen, GA; aunts, Beatrice Pope Spence Taylor, Gloverville, SC.; Emma (Kamahana) Riveira Dickerson of Artesia, CA; Frances (Kahele) Vellez, Ann (Konia) Vellez, Diana (Domen) Vasquez, Lillian V. Tamashiro Lopez, all from Honolulu, HI and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral will be on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with visitation one hour prior to the funeral. Burial will follow at Millen City Cemetery. The pallbearers will be Jesse Garcia, Michael Pope, Cooper Lovett, Tony Carter, Archie Burson and Joe Pope.
