Mrs. Rachel Mimbs Dampier "Nana", 88, of Port Wentworth Georgia, passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2024 at her home.

Rachel was born in Tattnall County and had lived in Port Wentworth for many years.  She was preceded in death by her parents Felton and Vashti Boyette Mimbs, her husband Pleasant Hugh Dampier, Sr., son David Dampier, daughter Gloria Cole, son Kenny Dampier, brothers Harley Mimbs and Charles Mimbs, sisters Lois Spivey and Tyra Kirkland.  She was a homemaker who was described as being loved by everyone, tough, unselfish, never taking time for herself, always taking care of others.  She looked forward to being with her family during Sunday visits and the holidays.  She will be missed.

Survivors include her children Linda Seiler, Hubert Dampier, Donnie Dampier (Beverly), Deneen Patrick (Joe) and Marcus Dampier; daughter-in-law Serena Dampier; grandchildren Charlie Turnbow, Jr., Stephen Dampier, Justin Dampier, Christopher Dampier, David Dampier, Jordan Dampier, Lexis Dampier, Dillon Dampier, Landon Dampier, Bryce Dampier, Harley Dampier, Justin Mordine, Ansley Dampier, Taylor Dampier, and Max Harrell; a number of great-grandchildren; sister Carol Mimbs Jones; significant other Richard Palmersheim, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

The visitation will be on Monday, April 15, 2024 from 12 noon until 1 p.m. at the funeral home.  The service to honor Rachel's life will follow at 1 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
