IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ranzie
Savage
October 7, 1932 – July 8, 2025
Ranzie Geneva Shores Savage, 92, died on 7/8/25 at Marsh's Edge Retirement Community on Saint Simons Island with her daughters by her side.
Ranzie was born and raised in the Nashville Tennessee area and was the only child of Catherine and Ike Shores. She graduated from Hume-Fogg High School where she met the love of her life, Bruce Savage. While he was away in the Navy, she worked as a secretary and saved for their future life together. They were married on July 10, 1954 and were never parted until he passed away in 2014 after 60 years of marriage.
They had their first daughter while he was still in college. After he graduated, they moved to Clearwater, Florida where they had their second daughter. They were original members of Union Street United Methodist Church where they made lifelong friends. Ranzie was an amazing homemaker, taking care of their two daughters and all their after-school needs including swimming lessons, music lessons, band, Girl Scouts, etc. She was extremely active in the church with the ladies and children's groups. She supported her husband's hobbies of Ham radio and sailing, getting her own ham radio license and making sure her daughters learned to swim.
She later lived with her family in Gainesville, Florida and Atlanta, Georgia. She became an avid Atlanta Braves fan and could talk Braves baseball with anyone! She retired as the secretary in the Chaplain's office of the Days Inn Corporation, Atlanta. As grandchildren started to arrive, she and her husband moved to Rincon, GA to be closer to the families of both daughters. She was a very active member of the Rincon United Methodist Church. She nursed her husband through a 2-year battle with leukemia until he passed away in 2014. Theirs was a great love story.
Ranzie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her greatest joy was with her husband and their trips to their second home in Florida or to visit their daughters and families. Their daughters and families felt blessed to have had them as parents with their constant love and support.
For the last three years she resided at Marsh's Edge Assisted Living community on Saint Simons Island where she made many new friends.
She is survived by her daughter Deborah (David) Morrison and her daughter Diane (Tom) Pedigo, grandchildren Bailie (Lance) Smallwood and Jarrod Bruce Pedigo, 4 great grandchildren, step grandson Kelly (Janelle) Pedigo and 2 step great grandchildren. She loved her family with all her heart.
