Pooler – Mr. Ray Field Roberson, born on July 28, 1927 in Baxley, GA, passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2014 at 3:40 a.m. at home surrounded by his family.
Mr. Ray was born in Baxley to the late Roy Carter Roberson and Maggie Lou Sellers Roberson. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Wilda Mae Carter Roberson "Shug". He was a member of South Newington Baptist Church where he was a deacon for 17 years. He retired from Union Camp after 39 years of service. He loved hunting and fishing, was a member of the Union Camp Hunting Club, Hamilton Ridge, for 50 years, and was a member of the Pooler Krystal Seniors Club. He was also member of the Westside Band of Brothers and a loving husband and father.
Survivors include his children, Gail & Kim Warnock, Kenny & Lana Roberson, and Ginger & Ricky Boatright; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; sister, Mary Nell Lamb; brother and sister-in-law, John & Dora Roberson; several nieces, nephews, and two life-long friends, Jim Cowart and Jim Walea and lot of other friends.
Visitation: 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday in the chapel of the funeral home.
Funeral: 1 p.m. on Wednesday in the chapel of the funeral home with burial to follow at Hillcrest Abbey West Cemetery.
