Garden City-Mrs. Reba N. Thrift, born September 18, 1927, went to be in the presence of the Lord on Friday, December 7, 2012. She was surrounded by her family when she passed very peacefully after a short illness.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Foster Thrift; son, Jerry Thrift and daughter-in-law, Pat, of Coral Springs, FL and Ricky Thrift of Rincon; five grandchildren, Becky Thrift of Charleston, SC, Jeffrey Thrift of Savannah, Jason Thrift of Savannah, Micah O'Brien of Clermont, FL, Kortney Thrift of Coral Springs, FL; great-granddaughter, Harper Faith O'Brien of Clermont, FL; sister, Doris Clark of Savannah and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She retired from Union Camp Chemical Division in 1991. She bowled in a league for many years and enjoyed her vegetable garden when her health allowed.
Her friendship and unconditional love and support were an inspiration to her family and friends, who she loved with all her heart. She was a sweet and dear mother, wife and sister with a heart of kindness, strength and patience. She always encouraged her children and grandchildren and loved them unconditionally. No one could have asked for a more loving, accepting mother-in-law. She lovingly shared her vast knowledge of cooking. We will cherish the memories of her and she will live on in our hearts.
Visitation: 12 noon until 1 p.m. Monday at Woodlawn Baptist Church located at 407 Talmadge Avenue in Garden City.
Funeral: 1 p.m. Monday at Woodlawn Baptist Church with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens located on Bonaventure Road in Savannah.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers remembrances may be sent to Woodlawn Baptist Church Building Fund, 407 Talmadge Avenue, Garden City, GA 31408.
