Obituary

Rebecca "Becca" Lynn Kessler

Rebecca was a 19-year-old sophomore at Young Harris College. She recently earned a
4.0 GPA and was a member of the Dorcas Society. She enjoyed spending time with her
friends she met while attending Young Harris College. Becca was born January 7, 1989
in Savannah, GA and graduated from South Effingham High School in 2007 as an honor
student. During high school Becca was a member of the Beta Club, SEHS track team,
and 4-H. She received the highest honor bestowed upon a 4-H'er when she became a
Master 4-H'er in 2006. Becca was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church and
Lutheran Youth Organization. She was a beautiful young Christian woman, shown not
only by her physical appearance but evidenced by her spirit and her strength as well.

She is survived by her parents, Thomas and Ramona Kessler of Guyton, GA, sister
Jessica and brother-in-law Ryan Wheatley of Athens, GA, sister Erica and brother-in-law
Ernie Van Wagoner of Athens, GA, and brother Andrew Kessler of Guyton, GA. She is
also survived by her grandfather, Steve Holmes of Hiawassee, GA; aunt Cynthia Wilson
and family; aunt Sharon (Donnie) Payne and family; aunt Stevie (Johnny) McClure and
family; aunt Sarah (Mark) Linton and family; and honorary grandparents, John Henry and
Minnie Lee Zipperer and Mary Payne.

She was preceded in death by grandparents, Ralph and Hazel Kessler of Guyton, GA and
Joyce Holmes of Hiawassee, GA.

She passed away the morning of October 3rd, 2008 from injuries sustained in a car wreck
in north Georgia. She will be remembered always and greatly missed.

Visitation will be held at Thomas C. Strickland & Sons Funeral Home (Hwy. 21)
Tuesday, October 7th, 2008 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and funeral services will be held
at Zion Lutheran Church Wednesday, October 8th, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. with interment
following at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery. Friends and family are welcome.

In memory of Rebecca, known to be a selfless, loving, and giving individual, her family
has established a memorial scholarship fund in her name to help future students obtain
their dreams of a college education. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that
donations be made to the Rebecca Lynn Kessler Scholarship Fund through Citizens Bank
of Effingham, 600 South Columbia Avenue, Rincon, GA 31326.
