Rincon – Rena Bedford Spivey, born May 10, 1931 in Wayne County, NC entered her eternal home on Sunday, May 6, 2012 under the care of Hospice Savannah surrounded by her loved ones.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Bessie Mae Bedford; her husband, Walter David Spivey; son, Elmer Scott Spivey; and daughter, Helen JoAnn Spivey Fowler.
Survivors include her children, Vicki (David) Thornton, Terry (Cindy) Spivey, Jimmy (Terry) Spivey, Roger Spivey, and Keith Spivey, all of Savannah, Sherri (William) Zarkadas of Rincon, Mike (Cathy) Spivey of Bloomingdale, and Deena (Steve) Colson of Richmond Hill; two brothers, George Bedford of Goldsboro, NC and Lloyd (Kaye) Bedford of West Jefferson, NC; 26 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and extended family, Cindy Guidry.
The visitation was from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at the funeral home.
The funeral to honor Mrs. Rena's life was at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 in the chapel of the funeral home. Rev. Don Davis officiated, Mr. William Zarkadas provided the eulogy and Miss Kirstin Zarkadas read a poem. Music was provided by Mrs. Susie Davis, Jennifer Curry, Nikki Williams, Mark Rahn and Willie Spivey. Pallbearers were Jeffrey Spivey, Matthew Spivey, Chance Spivey, Randy Spivey, Wesley Colson and Dustin Thornton.
Interment: Hillcrest West Cemetery
