Rev. Jesse W. Hilton

Springfield – Rev. Jesse W. Hilton, 93, passed away April 3, 2026 at Effingham Care Center.

Rev. Hilton was born February 27, 1933 in Haralson County, Georgia. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Springfield. He was a graduate of Shorter University and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Rev. Hilton served as a full time minister from 1957 – 1998 and as an interim Pastor for 12 years. He also was a substitute teacher in Gilmer County and Effingham County from 2000 – 2016.

He was preceded in death by his parents Winford O. Hilton and Della Elkins Hilton; and his wife of 61 years, Bonnie Rogers Hilton.

He is survived by his children, Roger Hilton of Springfield, Angie (Bobby) Smith of Springfield, and Priscilla (Phillip)Herrin of Carrollton; 8 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Hightower Funeral Home, Bremen, Georgia on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at 11 a.m. at Steadman Baptist Church with Randy Robinson officiating.

Interment will follow in Steadman Baptist Church Cemetery in Tallapoosa, GA.
