Rewis Lanier "Cooter" Hinely

Springfield – Rewis Lanier "Cooter" Hinely, 88, passed away October 22, 2018 at his residence.

The Effingham County native served in the National Guard, was a member of the Springfield Masonic Lodge #440 F. & A.M., and was a member of the Springfield United Methodist Church. He retired from Union Camp after 42 years, was an avid gardener, and enjoyed fishing.  He was a loving and devoted grandfather and had earned the nickname "Road Warrior" for attending all of his grandchildren's activities and ballgames.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Denton R. and Annie Mae Bray Hinely; and his son, R. Brent Hinely.

Survivors include his daughter, Cheryl Christain Geary (Bob); grandchildren, Wesley Christain (Ansley), Jessica Javo (Gary), Bryan Christain (Morrin), Michael Christain (Mary-Michael); great-grandchildren, Katelyn Javo, Nolan, Jax, Evelyn Grace, and Olivia Christain; sister, Christy Morgan; brother, Edward Hinely; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel.

Interment will follow in Springfield Cemetery Annex.

Remembrances may be given to Springfield United Methodist Church, 210 Cleveland Street, Springfield, GA 31329.
