Richard Ronald Crawford, Sr., 84, of Bloomingdale, Georgia, was born on June 13, 1940, in Savannah, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 9, 2024 after a short illness. A proud graduate of Commercial High School, Richard lived a life full of adventure and passion and hard work.
Known for his adventurous spirit, Richard embraced life to the fullest, with skydiving, snow skiing, and boating among his favorite pastimes. He had a deep love for hunting, guns, fishing, and was renowned for his culinary skills. Richard was rarely seen without his beloved camouflage, which became a signature of his personality.
Richard was also a Master Carpenter, whose craftmanship can be admired in many of Savannah's well-known restaurants. There was nothing he could not build or fix. His work leaves behind a legacy of skill and artistry that will be appreciated for years to come, and his love for animals brought many companions into his life. His dog Tracker, who waits patiently at the door for his dad to come home, will miss him.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents, John Robert Crawford and Jacqueline Waters Crawford; as well as a sister, Madonna Gardner.
Richard is survived by his loving wife, Brenda Head Crawford; brother, John Robert Crawford, III; and his two sisters, Rosalind Dufrane (Ray) and Lisa Jones; daughter, Dorinda McBride (Shawn); son, Richard Crawford, Jr. (Patty); stepdaughter, Lisa Head; grandchildren, Shane McBride, Karsyn Davis, Taryn Collett, Reid Crawford; step grandchildren, Adian, Caroline and Lucy Blum; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends who will deeply miss him.
Richard's love for life, family, and the great outdoors will be remembered fondly by all who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him and in the countless lives he touched.
Join us for a celebration of his life on Sunday, August 18, 2024, from 2:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
