Richard Donald "Donnie" Wood, Jr., 78, of Pooler passed away Thursday May 8, 2025, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Savannah.

He was born November 20, 1946, in Washington, D.C. to the late Richard Donald Wood, Sr. and the late Mary Frances Burke Wood.  He retired after 27 years of service from the United States Navy as Senior Chief Petty Officer; he also retired from Xerox.  He was preceded in death by his first wife, Michael Diane Link Wood and his parents.  He was a member of St. Patrick's Episcopal in Pooler where he served as Senior Warden, American Legion in Vienna, VA and The Dixieland Cruisers.

He is survived by his wife of eleven years, Laura Clark Chan Wood of Pooler;  siblings, Barbara (Derek) Eckert of Norrisville, MD, and Robert Walter (Carol) Wood of Hoschton, GA; children, Richard Martin (Vashti) Wood of Oak Hill, VA and their children, Sophia Raleigh Wood and Caven Michael Wood and Stacey Michael Wood (William David Belsches) Joedicke of Nokesville, VA; Peter Edgar (Elizabeth) Chan and their children, Clark, Clara, Larson and Adam, and Steven Andrew (Laura) Chan and their children, Blair and Colson.

A memorial service will be held Monday May 12, 2025 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Thomas C. Strickland and Sons Funeral Home, 901 Hwy 80 W. Pooler, GA 31322.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be given to St. Patrick's Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 576, Pooler, GA  31322 or the Church of the Holy Comforter in Vienna, VA.
