Mr. Richard A. Dotson, Sr., 93, of Pooler, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2024.

Richard was born in Savannah, Georgia and lived most of his life in Pooler.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert S. Dotson, Sr. and Doris Greene Dotson, his beloved wife, Mary Ruth Youmans Dotson, and a son, Jeffrey Dotson.  Richard was a faithful member of the Pooler First Baptist Church where he had served as an Elder as well as a Deacon for over 30 years.  He served his country in the armed forces and retired as a Lt. Colonel after 21 years of service.  He owned and operated Dotson's Gulf Stations in both Pooler and Savannah, and later was employed with Georgia Farm Bureau.  He was an avid golfer and enjoyed bird hunting.  He will be remembered for having tremendous faith and for his enjoyment of spending time with his family.

Survivors include his son, Richard Dotson, Jr. as well as a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

The visitation will be on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

The funeral to honor Richard's life will be on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at 1:30 p.m. at the Pooler First Baptist Church with Rev. Ernie Pirkle officiating.  Burial will follow at Hillcrest Abbey West Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be given to the Pooler First Baptist Church, 204 U.S. Highway 80 West, Pooler, GA  31322.
